Ukrainian Nazis were not prosecuted and now praised in Canada

Nazis in Ukraine were not apprehended nor prosecuted after WWII. Many remained in Ukraine, and some even emigrated to North America. The Canadian parliament recently gave a standing ovation to one such Nazi from Ukraine who is reportedly 98 years old.

... a Ukrainian veteran, invited to Canada’s parliament on the occasion of a visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy at the weekend, had served in the Waffen SS during WWII.

The Speaker of Parliament introduced 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka to Zelenskiy and his wife and called him 'a Ukrainian-Canadian veteran of World War II who fought for Ukraine's independence against Russians.' The house then rose to give the veteran a standing ovation.

Yaroslav Hunka, 98, had been called a "hero" in Canadian Parliament.

During Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the Canadian parliament on Friday, speaker Anthony Rota called 98-year-old veteran Yaroslav Hunka a "hero." Hunka, who was in the crowd and received two standing ovations, served as a member of the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS before retiring to Canada.
