When Will Consumers Stand Up?

Consumers regularly volunteer their Social Security Number to credit card companies, phone companies, cable companies, and others.  Consumers have the power to say no.  Instead, consumers wanted to have the latest iPhone on the first day of release, so they volunteer their SSN to the cell phone companies.  This is part of the result of consumer choice to volunteer private information:
