Government Loans For Higher Education Resort Living

In case the inflated administrative staffing levels, inflated salaries, and professional caliber sports training facilities were not enough, resort-style living has arrived at college campuses.  The funds for this spending is coming from the federal student loan program.

Resort Living Comes to Campus

Residents at a new rental community in Orlando, Fla., lounge around a resort-style pool in private cabanas. They practice their golf swings at the putting green and meditate in a Zen garden. Videogamers sip complimentary coffee while playing "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" on a multiscreen television wall. Now, they're facing final exams.

NYPD Baits Muslims

Have you wondered why the police are able to find seemingly stupid people to press fake detonators on fake bombs?  Maybe the police are actively recruiting and tricking these people into participating.  An informant for the New York Police Department claims he was instructed to target and recruit Muslims to break the law.

Informant: NYPD paid me to 'bait' Muslims
Shamiur Rahman, a 19-year-old American of Bangladeshi descent who has now denounced his work as an informant, said police told him to embrace a strategy called "create and capture." He said it involved creating a conversation about jihad or terrorism, then capturing the response to send to the NYPD. For his work, he earned as much as $1,000 a month and goodwill from the police after a string of minor marijuana arrests.

End of Global Warming

The British government has found that global warming ended 16 years ago

The world stopped getting warmer almost 16 years ago, according to new data released last week. The figures, which have triggered debate among climate scientists, reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012, there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.
This means that the ‘plateau’ or ‘pause’ in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996. Before that, temperatures had been stable or declining for about 40 years.

If world temperature is no longer warmning, why are we not hearing about it from the mainstream media?

Obama Lets Bush War Crime Criminals Skate Away

Obama, who had promised to have the most open and transparent Presidency, has officially allowed those who participated in Bush-era war crimes to walk away.

Obama's justice department grants final immunity to Bush's CIA torturers
The Obama administration's aggressive, full-scale whitewashing of the "war on terror" crimes committed by Bush officials is now complete. Thursday, Attorney General Eric Holder announced the closing without charges of the only two cases under investigation relating to the US torture program: one that resulted in the 2002 death of an Afghan detainee at a secret CIA prison near Kabul, and the other the 2003 death of an Iraqi citizen while in CIA custody at Abu Ghraib. This decision, says the New York Times Friday, "eliminat[es] the last possibility that any criminal charges will be brought as a result of the brutal interrogations carried out by the CIA".

Obama's administration is transparent in terms of cronyism.  Obama wants to make sure future Presidents don't investigate his wrong-doings.

Laws Don't Apply To Political Elite

Jon Corzine helped MF Global move billions of client funds offshore.  Clients have not received their money back, and there have been no prosecutions for the theft of funds.

A criminal investigation into the collapse of the brokerage firm MF Global and the disappearance of about $1 billion in customer money is now heading into its final stage without charges expected against any top executives. ...
Mr. Corzine, in a bid to rebuild his image and engage his passion for trading, is weighing whether to start a hedge fund, according to people with knowledge of his plans. ...

Jon Corzine pushed MF Global into risky bets on European debt, which led to MF Global failing.  In a last-minute effort to keep MF Global solvent, client funds were pledged and those clients funds were lost.  If a regular person stole client funds, they would go to prison.  Jon Corzine, being a well-connected political elite, apparently will not even be charged with a crime.

Banksters Have Special Privileges

An average person who was caught trading with Iran even once would be in prison.  The elite banksters trade with Iran repeatedly for years, and the the bank's regulators are upset when an enforcement action is started by a state regulator.  There are two levels of crime - the banksters and everyone else.

U.S. regulators irate at NY action against Standard Chartered
The U.S. Treasury Department and Federal Reserve were blindsided and angered by the decision of a New York banking regulator to launch an explosive attack on Standard Chartered Plc over $250 billion in alleged money laundering transactions tied to Iran, sources familiar with the situation said.

By going it alone through the order he issued on Monday, the head of the recently created New York State Department of Financial Services, Benjamin Lawsky, also complicates talks between the Treasury and London-based Standard Chartered to settle claims over the transactions, several of the sources said. ...

In other words, this complicates their efforts to allow the banksters to walk away with a small fine.

Chemotherapy Boosts Cancer

Not only does chemotherapy cause people illness and death, scientists are now admitting chemotherapy actually boosts cancer growth.  Americans will continue to be prescribed toxic drugs because of the enormous profits to the drug companies.

Chemotherapy can backfire and boost cancer growth
Cancer-busting chemotherapy can cause damage to healthy cells which triggers them to secrete a protein that sustains tumour growth and resistance to further treatment, a study said Sunday.

Researchers in the United States made the "completely unexpected" finding while seeking to explain why cancer cells are so resilient inside the human body when they are easy to kill in the lab...

Feds Steal Truck and Run Drugs

A regular person would be charged with grand theft auto for stealing the truck, some charges for the drugs, and probably conspiracy.  When the federal police do this, they get a free pass while the truck driver died and the truck owner is nearly pushed out of business.  The federal government has become thugs and gangsters.

Truck owner wants DEA to pay up after botched sting
...
Commandeered by one of his drivers, who was secretly working with federal agents, the truck had been hauling marijuana from the border as part of an undercover operation. And without Patty's knowledge, the Drug Enforcement Administration was paying his driver, Lawrence Chapa, to use the truck to bust traffickers.

At least 17 hours before that early morning phone call, Chapa was shot dead in front of more than a dozen law enforcement officers - all of them taken by surprise by hijackers trying to steal the red Kenworth T600 truck and its load of pot.

In the confusion of the attack in northwest Harris County, compounded by officers in the operation not all knowing each other, a Houston policeman shot and wounded a Harris County sheriff's deputy.

TSA Allows Illegal Alien Flight Training

While the TSA gropes passengers at the security theater checkpoints, the TSA allows illegal immigrants to attend flight school.  One illegal immigrant even ran a flight school in the Boston area.  This was discovered not by federal enforcement officials, but by the local police.

While the Transportation Security Administration is a visible example of failure at the federal level, other federal attempts to do the job of the States are in our recent memory.  Remember the FEMA failures at flood response?

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approved flight training for 25 illegal aliens at a Boston-area flight school that was owned by yet another illegal alien, according to the Government Accountability Office.

Federal Reserve Self-Dealing

Self-dealing and conflict of interest are rampant in the Federal Reserve.  A full and complete audit of the Fed's activities is needed.  Why did the Fed provide funds to the state Bank of China?

The Federal Reserve operates in the shadows of the economy, pulling the strings of the entire economy.  Audit the Fed, then allow for competition in currencies.

‘Audit the Fed’ bill advances in House

Last year, a more limited audit by GAO found the Fed repeatedly invoked emergency authority to expand its lending during the Wall Street crisis in 2008 and 2009, including major loans to prop up the housing market.
The audit also found that the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, which had a major role in the lending, did not have sufficient controls to prevent conflicts of interest for its employees.

Classified Woman

Sibel Edmonds' book Classified Woman, is about FBI cover-up and complicity with terrorists.

Book description from Amazon.com:
In this startling new memoir, Sibel Edmonds—the most classified woman in U.S. history—takes us on a surreal journey that begins with the secretive FBI and down the dark halls of a feckless Congress to a stonewalling judiciary and finally, to the national security whistleblowers movement she spearheaded. Having lived under Middle East dictatorships, Edmonds knows firsthand what can happen when government is allowed to operate in secret. Hers is a sobering perspective that combines painful experience with a rallying cry for the public’s right to know and to hold the lawbreakers accountable. With U.S. citizens increasingly stripped of their rights in a calibrated media blackout, Edmonds’ story is a wake-up call for all Americans who, willingly or unwillingly, traded liberty for illusive security in the wake of 9/11.

Paying To Lose A Job

American taxpayers are paying millions to train foreigners to take our jobs.  This is another example of wasteful federal government spending that further increases the deficit while sending jobs overseas.  It it time to reduce the size of the federal government and balance the budget.

Asian Call Center Workers Trained With U.S. Tax Dollars

Despite President Obama's recent call for companies to "insource" jobs sent overseas, it turns out that the federal government itself is spending millions of dollars to train foreign students for employment in some booming career fields--including working in offshore call centers that serve U.S. businesses.
...
The program is called JEEP, which stands for Job Enabling English Proficiency. ... That's the same agency that until a couple of years ago was spending millions of dollars in U.S. taxpayer money to train offshore IT workers in Sri Lanka...
JEEP is part of a larger USAID initiative in the Philippines, known as Growth and Equity in Mindanao (GEM), on which the agency is spending about $100 million per year, according to an audit by the USAID's Office of Inspector General.

USA Intelligence Was Duped

The basis for the invasion of Iraq was flawed. The Iraq invasion failed to find weapons of mass destruction, and wasted lives and money.

Defector admits to WMD lies that triggered Iraq war
Everything he had said about the inner workings of Saddam Hussein's biological weapons programme was a flight of fantasy - one that, he now claims was aimed at ousting the Iraqi dictator. Janabi, a chemical engineering graduate who had worked in the Iraqi industry, says he looked on in shock as Powell's presentation revealed that the Bush administration's hawkish decisionmakers had swallowed the lot. Something else left him even more amazed; until that point he had not met a US official, let alone been interviewed by one.

"I had the chance to fabricate something to topple the regime," he told the Guardian in a series of interviews carried out in his native Arabic and German. "I and my sons are proud of that, and we are proud that we were the reason to give Iraq the margin of democracy."

Unreliable Cancer Studies

The cancer detection and treatment industry generates enormous income for medical companies.  Due to the money involved, researches rarely document that cancer research is unreliable and can not be reproduced.

In cancer science, many 'discoveries' don't hold up
A former researcher at Amgen Inc  has found that many basic studies on cancer -- a high proportion of them from university labs -- are unreliable, with grim consequences for producing new medicines in the future.

During a decade as head of global cancer research at Amgen, C. Glenn Begley identified 53 "landmark" publications -- papers in top journals, from reputable labs -- for his team to reproduce. Begley sought to double-check the findings before trying to build on them for drug development.

Result: 47 of the 53 could not be replicated.  ...
As we tried to reproduce these papers we became convinced you can't take anything at face value.
...
Of 47 cancer projects at Bayer during 2011, less than one-quarter could reproduce previously reported findings, despite the efforts of three or four scientists working full time for up to a year.

Read the entire article to learn about selective publication of results and how grant money leads to unreliable results.

1 of Japan’s damaged reactors has high radiation, no water, renewing doubts about stability
One of Japan’s crippled nuclear reactors still has fatally high radiation levels and hardly any water to cool it, according to an internal examination Tuesday that renews doubts about the plant’s stability.

The probe also found the containment vessel — a beaker-shaped container enclosing the core — had cooling water up to only 60 centimeters (2 feet) from the bottom, far below the 10 meters (yards) estimated when the government declared the plant stable in December.

War Drums Beat

While the war drums against Iran continue to beat, and economic and banking sanctions are being place on Iran, the US Department of Defense says, "Tehran has not made a decision to proceed with developing a nuclear weapon."

Why are war-mongers running the world? Who benefits?

Paul Craig Roberts says:
As a signatory to the non-proliferation treaty, Iran has the right to develop nuclear energy. IAEA inspectors are permanently in Iran and report no diversion of nuclear material to a weapons program.

In other words, according to the reports of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the US National Intelligence Estimate, and the current Secretary of Defense, there is no evidence that Iran has nukes or is making nukes. Yet, Obama has placed illegal sanctions on Iran and continues to threaten Iran with military attack on the basis of an accusation that is contradicted by all known evidence.

Missouri Town Ends Water Medication

Unlicensed application of the toxic/medicine fluoride in municipal water is receiving push-back in some communities.

Mayor seals vote to remove fluoride from water
Alderman Rob Ross moved to remove fluoride from the city’s water, seconded by Alderman Darren Crowder. Hungary To Choose

Hungary has a choice: debt slavery or economic self-determiniation

A few years ago, Iceland told the bankers to get lost. Iceland had a sharp period of economic turmoil which rapidly became a vibrant recovery. Iceland is recovering without burdening citizens with the bankers' bad gambles.
Ireland recently chose to bail out the banker's bad gambles by putting those debts on the citizens. Ireland is muddling along, weighed down by unpayable debt.

Hungary must now choose to burden citizens with the banker's bad gambles, or to choose a path of economic self-determination. Will Hungary choose sovereignty (ruin for banksters) or slavery (slavery to the banksters)?

Hungary faces ruin as EU loses patience
"Governments must refrain from seeking to influence their central bank," said EU economics commissioner Olli Rehn. "Certain provisions in the new constitution are in breach of these principles. This needs to be addressed before we can start formal negotiations on the requested EU/IMF financial system."

Why would the people, through their duly elected government, not regulate the central bank? Who in their right mind would give the banksters unchecked powers to manipulate the money?

Dumping Greek Children

While this article blames the "Euro crisis", it is actually a debt crisis. Countries spent beyond their means. To protect the banks from taking losses, the debt is not being cleared through defaults. Therefore, countries such as Greece and their politicians are to blame.

Children are being abandoned on Greece's streets by their poverty-stricken families who cannot afford to look after them any more.

Youngsters are being dumped by their parents who are struggling to make ends meet in what is fast becoming the most tragic human consequence of the Euro crisis.
